SC18 SCinet Update: Network Build Begins at Dallas Convention Center

SCinet Rolls Out

Fall is in the air, which also means the time has arrived for the annual installation of the world’s fastest temporary network.

A team of volunteers are gathering in Dallas this week to build SCinet, the SC Conference’s dedicated high-capacity network. It is indeed inspiring work that represents 365 days of planning.

Updates on the Staging Action

    • SCinet staging kicked off this week with approximately 50 volunteers and $52 million in hardware, software, and services at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas.
    • To connect all that gear to the rest of the world, Dallas crews recently finished running more than a mile of new fiber optic cable under several downtown Dallas landmarks, as shown in this one minute video:

And finally, check back for future SCinet progress reports as the team once again works to build SC’s one-of-a-kind network.
