Mr. Slater is an expert in the application of knowledge- and semantics-based methods to pharmaceutical R&D, which has been his interest for the past 20 years. Over his career, Mr. Slater has held several positions in the field including Senior Director, Head of Knowledge Management Services at Merck Research Laboratories, and Vice President for Knowledge Engineering at Genstruct (now Selventa). Mr. Slater completed his bachelor's degree with a double major in Biology and Chemistry at Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. He holds an M.A. in Molecular Biology from the University of California at Riverside, and an M.S. in Computer Science from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
