Biography
Eisung Yoon is an assistant professor of Nuclear Science and Engineering at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) in South Korea. He received Ph.D. in plasma physics from Princeton University, USA (2013). He researched analytic theory of momentum transport driven by turbulence in nuclear fusion and developed a numerical module of nonlinear collision for gyrokinetic particle-in-cell code, XGC. In 2015, he joined Scientific Computation Research Center (SCOREC) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and worked on improving Tokamak meshing code, optimizing the collision module for many-core CPUs and GPUs, and developing an efficient mesh-based particle-in-cell method. His research area includes scalable particle-in-cell method for supercomputers, gyrokinetic theory, and plasma turbulence and transport in nuclear fusion.
