Biography
Carl Yang is a PhD candidate in Computer Engineering at University of California, Davis. His research is on sparse linear algebra and its applications to graph algorithms and machine learning. His research deals with graph traversal and sparse matrix multiplication. His recent work is on optimizing sparse matrix operators such as sparse matrix-vector (SpMV) and sparse matrix-dense matrix multiplication (SpMM), which won the Distinguished Paper award at Euro-Par 2018. Carl received his Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of British Columbia (2010).
