DescriptionAddressing grand challenges in sciences requires HPC and data infrastructures that facilitate collaboration and data sharing in combination with the capability to store vast amounts of data as well as to access and process them with high performance. In this talk we report on efforts of several European supercomputing centres towards Fenix, a federated high-performance compute and data infrastructure. This is currently being implemented by the ICEI project as part of the Human Brain Project. As such, the brain research community is the main driver for designing this infrastructure. It targets, however, also other science communities like materials science.
