DescriptionHPC administrators are a versatile bunch, frequently applying novel solutions to balance the seemingly contradictory requirements of maximizing computational output and minimizing downtime, while servicing the ever more complex requests for configuration customization from their user community, security team, and application developers. With practical examples from Puppet's ten years of working with the HPC community, this presentation suggests both tried-and-true and new, DevOps-inspired approaches that can keep supercomputing manageable as systems grow in scale, complexity, and throughput.
