Exhibitor Description
The Lyda Hill Department of Bioinformatics at UT Southwestern Medical Center is a new computer science department embedded in a traditional academic medical center. Founded in Spring 2015, the Department is composed of core "innovator" faculty scientists with research programs in foundational computer science topics and "integrator" faculty who have joint appointments in clinical or basic science departments, providing a hybrid of computational and biomedical scientists integrated with experimentalist wet lab resources. The Department houses a BioHPC supercomputing infrastructure that serves nearly 20 member departments and research centers, and offers a graduate program in Computational & Systems Biology and is launching a PhD program in Bioinformatics.
