Early Career Program: Early Career Survival Guide for Successful Communication: Preparing Effective Grant Proposals, Publications, and Presentations
Event TypeEarly Career Program
TimeMonday, November 12th1:30pm - 3pm
DescriptionWhile technical excellence is a necessary condition for a successful scientific career, it is often not a sufficient condition. Unless we know how to convey our technical advances and exciting research ideas to a broader audience, they will not generate the interest and impact needed to propel our careers. The second important component of successful research is the ability to understand audience (e.g. proposal and paper reviewers, readers) and the strength to take constructively critics. This session will touch upon communication skills for successful grant proposal writing, publications, technical presentations, and networking. Panel discussions, and hands-on practice with your peers will provide you with the opportunity to learn and enhance your communication skills.
