Biography
Marcelo obtained his PhD in Astrophysics from the Rochester Institute of Technology, as a member of the Center for Computational Relativity and Gravitation. His research expertise focuses in the areas of Scientific Computing and Computational Astrophysics, using supercomputers to run large scale simulations of extreme systems, such as, multiple black holes and binary neutron star mergers. Additionally, he is interested in scientific visualization techniques applied to different fields. Currently he is part of the SciNet supercomputer center's team at the University of Toronto and part of SciNet's core team devoted to training and education.
