SUMMARY:The Movement toward HPC Inclusivity: Achieving On-Demand Accessibi
lity of High Performance Computing (HPC) through Ephemeral Projects Utiliz
 ing the Alces Gridware Project
DESCRIPTION:Workshop\nDiversity, Education, Hot Topics, Workshop Reg Pass\
n\nThe Movement toward HPC Inclusivity: Achieving On-Demand Accessibility
of High Performance Computing (HPC) through Ephemeral Projects Utilizing t
he Alces Gridware Project\n\nMerritt, Mayers\n\nThis presentation covers o
ff the adoption of public cloud over the past two years. Using five publi
c case studies, we will discuss how moving into cloud is not an 'all or no
thing' option and demonstrate how adding cloud to an HPC solution invites
in more opportunities for HPC to grow. But jumping into cloud isn't alway
s an easy! Our presentation will note key differences between hardware an
d cloud, how those differences play out in the real world, and how open so
urce options are starting to tie these platforms together. \n\nSpecial th
anks to Across the Cloud, Institute of Cancer Research, Sterling Geo, RSE
Sheffield, University of Liverpool and Amazon Web Services for supporting
 this research.
